I forgot to mention that all of the audiobooks are available from my local public library--your library probably has an app for audiobooks and e-books too! (Axis 360 and Libby are some common ones.)
I loved Ralph Cosham’s narration of the first several books so much (he was exactly right as Gamache!) that I dreaded listening to another reader. While I initially thought Mr. Bathurst was not going to work for me, I got used to him and have enjoyed his narration as well. I am a big audio listener and appreciate Ms. Penny’s care for the audio versions of her fantastic books!
The article and the comments definitely make me want to try the audiobooks! I haven't had much success in the past - a wandering mind and them off to sleep, I'm afraid. Any hints for a better listening experience welcome!
Does my heart good, sitting here reading your notes, Louises’ books, and thinking about Three Pines while sequestering from my first round of nCovid19!
I first discovered Louise Penny in the mystery section of a library bookstore. I believe the book I began with was “Bury Your Dead.” I was totally hooked and decided to go back to the beginning with “Still Life.” But I’m an audiobook aficionado and “read” almost all the books while walking, driving, cooking, cleaning or whatever, sometimes just lying down--perilous because I often doze off and have to backtrack. I still don’t believe I’ve heard them all and I haven’t always listened in order, but I have enjoyed both narrators and sometimes listen again for the pleasure of being carried off into the magical, mysterious and murder-prone world of Three Pines. The characters, stories and setting are so vivid that audio seems like the perfect medium. Thanks for the added background and for the terrific illustrations!
I have listened to the entire series of Three Pines. Many times I've wished that I knew a town like it. There is so much humanity happening there. I await the next installment. Libby is used by my Library and I order them as soon as I can get them.
Yes! I’ve listened to and loved them all (minus last year’s release... I hate to catch up & prefer always having a Gamache book waiting for me, just in case)!

Thanks so much, Elizabeth and Aya! Wow, I love these illustrations! What a treat.

To lay around listening to the audio books with your friend! Can’t think of anything better, other than if Three Pines were real!

Now in my audible cart! Thank you for the introduction - can’t wait to listen.
